Description Family Aizoaceae Originating from southern and eastern Africa Mounds of carpeting evergreen silver-green succulent foliage. Brilliant purple daisy-like flowers are produced in profusion. Easy to grow if given a hot, full sun position and well-drained soil. This is a small plant with a big personality. The silver-green carpet of succulent leaves makes a lovely backdrop to the daisy-like blooms, forming mounds at first and over time forming a dense carpet of fleshy foliage. Its flowers are a particularly loud shade of deep cerise pink. In strong sun they look as though they are radiating colour, and appear over a long period in summer. Well suited to Mediterranean, coastal gravel gardens, and rockeries, it looks great scrambling around taller architectural plants, such as Cordyline australis, Dasylirion arcotrichum, Agave montana and Yucca filamentosa. Easy to grow in poor well well-drained soil and great in pots and alpine troughs, in southern or coastal areas. Height and spread after 2 – 5 years 5cm x 30cm.
