Description Vintage cast aluminium Yule Log Cake Pan Mold that is in mint condition! The custom of burning the Yule Log goes back to even before medieval times. Believed to be a Nordic tradition that occurred during Winter Solstice festivals in Scandinavia and other parts of northern Europe such as Germany. The burning of the Yule Log dates back to early solstice celebrations and the tradition of bonfires. The now Christmas practice calls for burning a portion of the log each evening until Twelfth Night (January 6). The log is subsequently placed beneath the bed for luck. It is also said to offer protection from the threats of lighting and with some irony, fire. Many have beliefs based on the Yule log as it burns. It’s said that counting the sparks and such one can discern their fortunes for the new year and beyond. Made in 1960s 12″ Long Vintage
