Description This intricately carved box is handmade from Sheesham wood which is also referred to as North Indian Rosewood, a sustainable, fast growing luxurious hardwood, taking approximately 4-5 years to grow, sourced from authorised timber mills in India that are under Government protection. Handmade in Mumbai, India by a Fair Trade organisation with sustainable development at its heart. With 800 artisans and over 300 women empowered, they encourage the use of sustainable raw materials and employ parents to help their children gain an education and a financially stable home that is safe from poverty. They work closely with grassroots projects that help artisans set up businesses, learn IT skills and gain access to machinery and tools to perfect their craft. Artisans are provided with grants and opportunities to build a successful future, as well as access to medical camps that give free check-ups and medicine to the surrounding community.
